About Lavendry Co.

A workshop, a counter, and twelve years of stubbornness.

We started in a converted shophouse in Bukit Timah with one washing machine, one steam press, and a stubborn idea: that a neighbourhood laundry, done well, was still a business worth doing in 2013.

Our story

The first shirt we washed is still hanging in the back office.

Kok Wei learned the trade from his mother, who ran a small dry-cleaning counter in Toa Payoh from the late 1970s. After fifteen years in shipping logistics, he came home in 2013 and opened the first Lavendry Co. counter on Bukit Timah Road, two doors down from the bakery his daughter still gets bread from.

For the first three years it was him, his wife Linda at the till, and Mrs Lim — who walked in one Monday looking for tailoring work and never left. By 2016 we were running two outlets. In 2021, despite the obvious headwinds, we doubled down: a central workshop in Toa Payoh and five new counters across the island.

We don't run a tech company, we don't have an app, and our turnaround is six working days, not six hours. What we offer is a wardrobe that lasts longer, a quieter weekend, and the quiet certainty of knowing the person pressing your shirt also pressed it the last time.

What we work by

Four things we don't compromise on.

Hands-on, every time

Pre-treatment, finishing, and inspection are still done by hand. No conveyor automation.

Same faces, year after year

Our average team tenure is seven years. The people you meet at the counter are the people doing the work.

Use less, waste less

Plant-based detergents, cold-water wash where suitable, paper-bag returns, and reusable hangers on request.

Honest if we can't help

Some pieces shouldn't be saved. We'll tell you, and we won't charge you to find out.
